We were a group of around 20 single, widowed and divorced people who emailed each other when we were planning a social event. This quickly grew when friends, and friends of friends, heard what we were doing and asked to join in. Within a few months 20 turned into nearly 100 and the poor person responsible for emailing became overwhelmed. A decision was made to form a club; JGF was born and is now run by a committee.
Our membership is increasing every month and our programme of events gets bigger and more diverse all the time.
We publish a monthly programme and email weekly updates. Events on the programme are either arranged by the committee or 'hosted' by members.
Our aim is not to make a profit; any excess being used to subsidise future events.
JGF is truly a club run for its members, by its members and could not survive without the active participation of everyone.
Events featuring either regularly or occasionally on the programme include:
Concerts, theatre, holidays, talks, quiz nights, bridge, dancing, bowling, table tennis, cinema, games evening, party nights, day trips, reading groups, fine dining, pub meals, walks and more......
